One of my all-time favourte side dishes.  Red lentils, simmered slowly with garlic, ginger and turmeric, topped with fried onions and whole spices.  Great as a side dish, as a light (but filling) lunch - and if you have enough self control to have leftovers, boy, are they good for breakfast!  Doesn't half kick-start the metabolism!
